A new update on Aidan

Greetings and Happy Easter!
Aidan has now made a complete recovery! He is stiff after being in his crate but he has total use of his leg. He is in excellent spirits and he continues to love all that come into contact with him - no change in temperament! I was rereading some information on your website and I failed to mention earlier that we took Aidan (when he was hurt) to Dr Brian Gibbs at the Central Animal Hospital in Saskatoon as the Vet Med. clinic in Saskatoon was too busy to see Aidan on short notice. Aidan received excellent treatment in Saskatoon! The staff was both professional and compassionate to both Aidan and his parents!
I am sending 4 pictures to you so that you can see how fine Aidan looks. The pin in his leg was removed about three weeks ago with no trouble - in fact the staff are very impressed with his recovery.
All the Best,

Chriscairn Kennel's would like to introduce you to Aidan.  Aidan is a bright, lively, friendly family pet.  Aidan has a wonderful temperament that poses a threat to no one.  He is loved, cared for and owns a wonderful family with 2 extremely courteous teens.  An ideal home for a friendly Cairn.  Unfortunately not everyone feels that way.  On the morning of February 18 while Aidan was out side for his morning duties Aidan was attacked by a group.  Prince Albert has been plagued with animal torture and mutilations in recent months.  A number of dogs, cats and kittens have been severely beaten, maimed and killed.  We at Chriscairn have been touched through Aidan.  Aidan's yard is enclosed with a steel chain link fence with locked gates.  The gate to the back alley is not within sight of the door but Aidan usually runs back to be with his owners.  When he did not come running back a quick check of the yard confirmed everyone's worst fears.

The locked gate had been BENT OPEN to allow someone to grab Aidan.  The vet college think that he was spun over someone's head and thrown against something a few blocks away.  The owners were at a convention but the EXTREMELY quick thinking of the teens allowed Aidan to live.  Within 15 minutes Aidan was found in a heap, bleeding from the head and with an obvious leg injury.  The teens nestled Aidan in their arms and kept him from moving and called Grandma and Grandpa for help.  Within an hour Aidan was on his way to the Vet Specialist in Saskatoon, a trip that usually takes 1 1/2 hours.  Upon arrival Aidan was rushed to surgery to repair multiple fractures of the leg and stitches to the head.  The vet said if Aidan had not been found and kept warm and quiet he would have had to be PUT TO SLEEP.  Quick thinking saved his life.  It was -30C at the time.  Aidan now has some steel pins holding his leg together as a souvenir.

Police feel that it was a gang of teens that had nothing better to do than to hurt a defenseless animal.  It is unlikely that they will be found or charged.  But Chriscairn would like to say a big THANK YOU to our new HERO'S.

 THANKS

Certainly, I will try to get some up-to-the date pictures of him in the next couple of days. I should report that he is well on the mend! In fact he is rapidly recovering  . . . we have to watch him very closely though because he tries to do everything that he usually does  . . . jump onto loveseats, tackle stairs and chase plastic bottles. We were concerned that the trauma of his attack would alter his personality - this is certainly not the case! He still LOVES everyone - he also enjoys the extra attention he is getting from our friends and family members. Neighbors have even been bringing treats to the house for him. In the terror and shock of the attack it is wonderful to know that there are still good and kind people in this world.
