CHRISCAIRN KENNELS owners have 40 years experience in breeding dogs. Parson JACK RUSSELL terriers bred in England provided the background to the quality Cairns produced today. We have been breeding and showing Cairns of distinction in Canada since 1988.
Ch. Kedosupa Durham's Reward achieved 5th place honors in CANADA'S TOP DOG Competition for Cairn terriers in 1995 and repeated again in 1997.
Durham is an import from England and carries some of BRITAIN'S top blood lines; Rossarden, Robinson Crusoe, Uniquecottage, Heshe and Pinetop to name a few.
Durham began his show career winning Best of BREED in a SPECIALTY show in only his 4th show. His 5th place standing and multiple group placings for 1995 and 1997 show what a fantastic find he is. A truly remarkable CHAMPION with the ideal temperament. He has multiple group placings and in 1997 was shown in Canada and the United States by Doug Belter, top terrier handler. He is retired now to a life of gentle relaxation.
Chriscairn Kennel's next great find was CH Rose Croft Chriscairn Gadget (Gidget) who placed in the top 10 in Canada in 1999 and 2001. Rose Croft Kennel's is one of the premier breeders of Cairn terriers in North America. Gidget's uncle has won 18 Best in Show's. This wonderful little girl has won the hearts of everyone that she has met. Her kennel mates get along very well with her and she is a delight to have around. She has been shown by Doug Belter in both Eastern & Western Canada and earned her first point in her very first weekend. She finished in a short time and is now awaiting her 2nd litter of puppies due August 22, 2000. After her 2nd litter Gidget was shown in July and August of 2001 and has been awarded Group 1, 2, 3, 4 in 2 weekends of shows!!!!!
After a month long trip to England and Crufts in April of 1999 Chriscairn Kennel's announced the arrival of 3 imported English cairns. In association with Judy Parker-Tucker of Uniquecottage Kennels and Mrs. F. Somerfield of Oudenarde Kennels we are pleased to have 3 new additions to our lines. CH Uniquecottage Gold Skye, Uniquecottage Bright Poppit and CH Oudenarde Elusive Star are now in Canada.
CH Oudenarde's Elusive Star (Dolly) qualified for Crufts Dog Show in the year 2000 in her first show. The judges critique stated "Somerfield's Oudenarde Elusive Star. Charming dark/grey brindle, lovely head, sweet expression, good neck and front, very young yet, but most promising, enchanting puppy, moved very nicely." This 6 month old puppy was judged that day by Cairn breeder Judy Parker-Tucker!
Dolly's first set of shows in Canada showed how promising this young girl is. In the Alberta Terrier Specialty in 1999 she went winners female for 4 points. This was her first show in Canada. In her Second show she went Best of Breed. At the Terrier Specialty in Calgary August 4-7/2000 she went Best of Winners for a 5 point major and her Canadian Championship. 2 other days she was Best opposite. The following weekend in Winnipeg she was Best of Breed at the RED RIVER TERRIER ASSOCIATION SHOW and went Best of Breed 2 other days. Not bad for 4 weekends of showing in Canada. Dolly was bred to the #1 cairn all time in the USA, BIS, BISS, AM CH Rose Croft Best Foot Forward and on August 21, 2001 produced 3 males and 1 female. Look for new Chriscairn puppies on the show scene in 6 months.
Our second English female is Uniquecottage Bright Poppit. Poppit is a brilliant wheaten female that is magnificent in movement, style and type. Our newest male is CH Uniquecottage Gold Skye. Charlie is a proven male stud. Charlie has sired some of the top winning Uniquecottage dogs and many Canadian pups.
In Charlie's first weekend of shows he did what we thought he would do. In the Alberta Specialty he went reserve winners male. This was his first show in 3 1/2 years and he was a kennel dog in England prior to his arrival in Canada. In the rest of the weekend he was Best of Winners on Saturday and Winners Male Sunday and Monday. He was 4 points short of his championship. 2 Weekends later at the RED RIVER TERRIER SPECIALTY in Winnipeg he earned his Canadian Championship by going Best of Winners. He was owner handled for all his points. This is not bad for a 4 year old kennel dog.
CH Chriscairn's Oodles of Noodles a daughter of CH Oudenarde Elusive Star and AMCH Rose Croft Best Foot Forward obtained her Championship in 2 weekends and ended the 2002 Show Year as Best Opposite in the Canadian Cairn Specialty Show in B.C. in Oct./2002. There were 52 Cairns entered in the Specialty. Noodles brother also obtained his Championship in short order.
In 2002 we assisted an quality breeder in New Brunswick. Lochlomond Kennel's leased Charlie for 24 months and in that time Charlie has sired many litters that produced pet and show Cairn's of distinction. Charlie's distinctive red coat has been passed on to his offspring and there are a number of red Cairn's in Eastern Canada.
In addition we have also benefited by this arrangement bringing 6 Charlie offspring to our house. Some were bred to Irish imports and most were bred to the great Alamawa lines of the Kingsley's.
If you want some of the best lines Canada, United States, and England, have to offer, please contact Garry or Chris.
Our next planned breeding is spring of 2005. We are planning on having Charlie sire Noodle and Zach sire April and Roxie. You can read comments from our buyers by following this link.
